MentionLab provides powerful filtering and comparison tools that work across all analysis pages. This guide explains how to use them to extract focused insights from your data.

Date range

The date range picker in the top navigation bar controls which time period your analysis covers.
  • Select from preset ranges (last 7 days, last 30 days, etc.) or set a custom range
  • All charts, tables, and metrics on the page update to reflect the selected period
When reviewing trends, use a longer date range (30+ days) to see meaningful patterns. For checking recent changes, shorter ranges give you more granularity.

Comparison mode

The comparison toggle lets you overlay data from a previous period alongside your current view. When enabled:
  • Charts show both the current and comparison periods
  • Tables display delta indicators (↑ or ↓) showing how each metric has changed
  • You can quickly spot improvements or declines in brand visibility
The comparison period defaults to the period immediately before your selected date range. For example, if you’re viewing the last 30 days, the comparison period is the 30 days before that.

Filter dialog

Click the filter icon in the navigation bar to open the global filter dialog. Filters apply across all analysis pages in your current session.

Available filters

FilterDescription
TagsShow only queries assigned to specific tags
Response TagsFilter by tags applied to AI responses
AI ModelsInclude only results from specific platforms (e.g., ChatGPT only)
LanguagesFilter by the language of the query
CountriesFilter by the country context of the query
Only Configured CompetitorsHide brands not in your explicit competitor list
Min Presence RatioSet a minimum threshold for source presence in source analysis

Tag filter modes

When filtering by tags (both query tags and response tags), you can choose between:
  • OR mode — Results match any of the selected tags (broader results)
  • AND mode — Results match all of the selected tags (narrower results)

Hide other tags

The “Hide other tags” option removes unselected tag groups from charts and tables, giving you a cleaner view focused on your selection.

Combining filters

Filters work together across categories. For example, you could:
  1. Set the date range to the last 30 days
  2. Enable comparison to the previous 30 days
  3. Filter by the Pricing tag
  4. Limit to ChatGPT and Claude only
This gives you a focused view of how your brand’s pricing-related visibility on those two platforms has changed month-over-month.
Applying too many filters at once can result in very small data sets with less statistically meaningful metrics. Start broad and narrow down as needed.

Filter persistence

Filters remain active as you navigate between analysis pages within the same project. They reset when you:
  • Switch to a different project
  • Explicitly clear filters from the filter dialog
