# Models Availability
> Check which AI models can run in which countries
Every query targets a country. Not every model can run in every country — providers restrict
some regions themselves, and a few models only cover a handful of markets by design.
MentionLab enforces this: if a project selects a model that is not allowed in one of its query
countries, the run is rejected with a `PROVIDER_RESTRICTIONS_VIOLATION` error rather than
silently returning nothing.
Availability is an **allow-list**, not a block-list. A model runs in a country only if that
country is explicitly on its list. The tables below are generated from that list, restricted to
the countries MentionLab lets you target (187 in total — see `GET /api/v1/reference/locales`).
We keep these tables in sync with our provider data, but they are maintained by hand and can lag.

Country codes are [ISO 3166-1 alpha-2](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2).

Outside Italy, these are policy restrictions rather than hard blocks by DeepSeek. MentionLab
treats them as unavailable so that runs never target a market where the model's status is
contested.

Add-on surfaces such as **Amazon Rufus** and **Alexa** are not listed above — their coverage is
tied to the storefronts they run on and is confirmed when the add-on is enabled. [Talk to our

## What happens when a model is unavailable
When you start a run — manually or on a schedule — MentionLab checks every selected model against
every country used by the project's queries. If any pair is not allowed, the whole run is rejected:

To resolve it, either deselect the model or remove the queries targeting that country.
## API endpoint
Fetch the live allow-list — no authentication required:

Each entry is keyed by either `provider` (covering all of that provider's models) or `model`
(covering one model), with `allowedCountries` as the allow-list:

The companion endpoint `GET /api/v1/reference/locales` returns the full list of countries and
languages a query may target.
`GET /api/provider-restrictions/map` is deprecated. Use
`/api/v1/reference/provider-restrictions` instead.
